I'm not sure which was more exciting this week... raising money or producing more than 200 greeting cards. Yes, you read that right! OK The greeting cards came in a close second. They were part of a simulation called Cardinal Cards on Weds and Thurs this week at the GSB. Essentially we were grouped into teams and each team had production, sales, admin, R&D, etc. I was in production and have to say I loved it. There's nothing like producing a few hundred greeting cards (really) to have a real sense of accomplishment. Much more tangible than a lot of the theoretical stuff. When you have 5 people handling scissors, knives, paper, glue, etc. in 20 minutes, you really to have work together to be successful. The highlight of being in production was that since I started there, and nearly everyone else transferred into production (after we realized that was the best way to make money), I was the old guy in production and could lead my part of the team. That was fun. I met a lot of great people this week.

There are a lot more married students that I had expected. There are some older students but I haven't met as many of them as I'd like.

There are Outdoor Activity (OA) trips this weekend to Tahoe, Sequoia, Yosemite, etc. -- we had planned to do one but in the end decided we'd rather spend some time at home unpacking and relaxing. There is plenty of time to meet more people.

My sense is there are two types of people here -- those who take this experience very very seriously -- they are really worried about the slides, the cases, etc. This will be very stressful for them. Then there are those who are going to learn a lot, but they aren't taking this more seriously than they need to -- they are here to learn and network, but they also understand that the next 2 years should be FUN! That's obviously the group I'm in.

More on the raising money part in the next post! Great work TEAM!
