Just this time last year I was still getting over the excitement of getting into the GSB. Now I am amazed at how fast the second quarter is going by. The hot topic at school is interviews, interviews, and more interviews! People who I have previously only seen in t-shirts and jeans are showing up in two-color dress shirts ties, and pin-striped suits. It's a strong reminder that summer and the real world of business, which is why many of us came to b-school, is just around the corner.

Centeris is doing well. Customer meetings. Product development. Hiring. It's great progress. I can't say too much more. But stay tuned! Meanwhile, Ignition made some waves but hiring Microsoft's former CFO.

We've had a number of great speakers in recently, including Richard Fairbank, a GSB alum and CEO of Capital One. One of his most memorable lines was when he said that when he graduated from the GSB he was a great generalist but not expert in anything - which made him perfectly qualified to be...? A management consultant. He also joked that when Microsoft makes a wrong move, he likes to call his friend Steve B. and tell him "we learned that stuff in the second year." Not only did this guy graduate first in his class at the GSB, but he's also amazingly charismatic, and he went on to become a highly respected CEO.

Over the holidays, we got XM Radio for our home. Previously we had it in one of the cars (it came built in). I have to say we really love it. I never thought I would pay $10 a month for radio - but here I am. Great reception and great selection. I have started listening to classical music once again, something I haven't done in years.
