How To Setup Domain Hosts At Godaddy

I always seem to forget how to do this, so as a reminder, here's how.

When would you want to do this? When you want your domain name to resolve to your own name server (for example, if you have a dedicated server).

1. Log into your godaddy account.

2. Click on the domain name you want to modify the DNS settings for.

3. Click on the plus at the lower right of the page (scroll down if necessary) next to Domain Host Summary.

4. Now click on "Click here to see details or modify."

5. Enter the IP address of your server and something like "ns1" and "ns2" to the left of your domain name. Click "Save Changes."

6. Now go up to Nameservers Summary. Click on the plus, then click on "Click here to see details or modify."

7. Enter the name servers you just "created", e.g. ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name). Click Save Changes.

You'll need to wait a few hours for the changes to take effect.
