Google Profits Soar... As NBC Cuts Jobs

There is perhaps no clearer indication of the shift of offline ad spend to online then the simultaneous news that NBC is laying off 600-800 workers, as Google profits double as online ads surge.

According to Forrester and the IAB, people in the US spend 33% of their media consumption time online, but the web accounts for only 6% of total ad spend. That Media - Ad Spend Gap means that the ad spending money has to follow the people and where they spend their time - online.
